what? me run?

Ok well i thought that if i blog about it, then i can't get out of it!! Not that I'm planning on trying to get out of it, but a little extra motivation never hurt. Anyway, I am planning on running in a 5K in May. Now i have never run in ANYTHING before. Unless you count the mile run in junior high and high school that you have to run to get a decent grade. I never have liked running. I have run/jogged on the treadmill for exercise reasons only. I still don't enjoy running, but my Dad has been doing a few 5K's for a year or so and he really wants me to join in this time. My sister Brenda will probably join in as well. So i thought "why not?" "what can it hurt?" Well other than the fact that i haven't been doing regular exercise in about a year now... since last April/May when my knee swelled up. Both my knees have given me problems here and there since 2001. One knee will randomly decide to swell up, then go back to normal, then swell up again... in a little viscous cycle for a while and then go away for a long time until the next time one decides to swell up. I've been to the doctors numerous times and had one knee scoped only to discover nothing really!! It usually happens when my normal body balance is thrown off for some reason... like having a baby, strep etc. At least we think that's what happens. So hopefully my knees will behave and I can get ready for this race in May and do a half way decent job. I'm hoping to make it in around 30-35 minutes... but we'll see. Wish me luck!! (I will need all I can get!)

Desiree had a school assignment in health. They each got a bowling pin baby! They had to take care of them from Thursday after school through Sunday. They were supposed to take them everywhere (she had to take it to church too) and either hold them or keep them at arms length at all times. It was challenging especially by the weekend. By Sunday she was counting down the hours until she didn't have her little "responsibility". I think the assignment gave them a little taste of responsibility and how much time it takes to take care of a baby. Of course a baby is more work, but it gave them a little idea on how a baby is a responsibility of 24-7 not just here and there. She did great overall and this morning she is FREE!!! She is happy!

Like Daddy like Baby

Lately Lindzi has had a shoe obsession. She loves to put other family members shoes on and try to walk in them! She even likes to put on her Daddy's work boots!! She thinks she is so cool!

Kassidy's tooth

Kassidy lost her third tooth. I wasn't going to post about this newest lost tooth, but the night that she lost it, it was kind of late and i was ready to go right to bed. But Kassidy said, "Aren't you going to take a picture? So you can put it on your blog??" Well what can you say to that? So i dutifully took the picture and went to bed. What's wrong with this picture??? It's March 25th today!! That's what's wrong with it. It's supposed to be like this all week long!!! What happened to my beautiful upper 60's last week. The next two pictures are from last week when we were enjoying the beautiful weather.

Kassidy and Lindzi in the swing in the backyard!! Lindzi loves the outdoors and she gets very upset when we try to bring her in the house!! She hasn't appreciated the bad weather either. She doesn't understand why i won't let her out the back door!! It's kind of sad when she takes my hand and leads me to the door and points and says "uh uh uh" (meaning open this door this instant!) Then when i don't and i pick her up and walk away she screams!! It's not pleasant. Hopefully next week is better.

Yay I have a new dishwasher!!

Well after nearly two weeks of handwashing dishes for 7 people, I am so HAPPY to have a new dishwasher!! Our old one need a 200 dollar part, so we decided we would just upgrade to a new one!! It is so nice.. i love it!! Since everyone was sick last week, it was pretty much me that had to do all the washing of dishes.... thank goodness everyone is now on the mend and dishes take less time to get done!!!

Lindzi loved the piano.

We celebrated my nephew, Jonas', first birthday over the weekend. We had a lot of fun. We ate chips, veggies and dip. And had strawberry shortcake for the birthday cake! Yum. Amanda and Nick were here for the weekend too. Thankfully we are also all on the mend from last weeks cold and flu epidemic.

Well since Friday, we have had the flu here at our house.... and still do. John brought it home from work and he had the worst case so far. He is still suffering with a horrible cough and no energy and generally not feeling good. Then Kassidy and Desi got it. It looks like they will be able to go to school tomorrow, though. Yay! They didn't have as bad of a time as John. We gave them some oscillococooinum. It's expensive, but it's over the counter and safe for kids. It seemed to help. Now we are just hoping and praying that Lindzi, Brooklyn, Chris or I don't get it too! My only hope is that Lindzi got the flu shot this year at her one year old check up... let's hope that works for her. Chris is hardly home, so he's fairly safe. It's just Brooklyn and I that are scared like no other. Anyway we'll survive it one way or another.

-generally undo-ing things at all times!

***She is still a joy despite all her mischievious ways and we love her to pieces!

The Temple Tour

We toured the Temple yesterday. It was so beautiful. We loved all the sparkling chandeliers. I'm so glad that John was able to come with us because Lindzi is such a handful these days. She just wants to get down and run! So at the end of the tour where they have you sit and listen for a few minutes Lindzi just wanted to run away... John ended up taking her out of the room. (This is how our sacrament meetings have been lately... Desi chasing down Lindzi.) It was nice for the girls to see the temple. It was so windy up there on the hill. Thank goodness they had such a nice set up of tent like walk ways so we didn't get cold. Afterward we went out for dinner which the girls loved.
