Well last month, March 18th to be exact, I went in to the dentist to have 2 cavities filled. Not fun, but nothing too terrible. Anyway, everything went fine or so it seemed. Once the numbness wore off later, my mouth ached. Well that is fairly normal for some cavities, I guess. So I took some ibuprofen and it helped. To make a long story short, for the next week and a half I would have horrible jaw aches. Where I would put an ice pack on and take ibuprofen mulitple times a day. Also when i would eat anything hot or cold near that tooth it would start a horrible throbbing pain immediately. It was not fun. So I called the dentist and told them my symptoms. The pain was even waking me up at night. I went in to my dentist (did I mention that his office is clear across town.. i know, i know - time to shop for a new dentist.. which I've done, but that's another story.) They looked at my tooth and made sure it wasn't rubbing the top jaw wrong and basically told me that sometimes when a filling is near the nerve it can take longer to adjust. I don't know why they couldn't tell me this over the phone, aggravating, but oh well. So I go home with my jaw still aching, but with renewed hope that it will get better with a little time and patience... wrong! Well some days I did think the pain was less and then sometimes it would be bad. Finally on April 17th a day shy of a month with pain I called the dentist again, because I had had a particularly bad pain afternoon. They couldn't fit me in that week because they don't work Fridays or Mondays. And since I had been living with the pain this long what's another week right? Not! So they referred me to another dentist. This one was closer to my house. I went in April 21st to the other dentist, where they recommended a root canal. Now, I don't know why or how things got to this point, I mean i go to the dentist every six months like I'm supposed to and brush twice a day. But somehow after I go to the dentist without pain, I come home from the dentist with horrible pain and now need a root canal. I have never had one before so I was nervous about it. So that day they start the process of the root canal, which wasn't pleasant, but wasn't too awful either. Then when he gave me the prescription for lortab, I got a little nervous. But then could it be more painful than the pain I had been through for the past month? Surley not? Wrong! It was worse, thankfully though only the first day. I only had to take two pain pills that day and that was it, except for a few ibuprofens over the next few days. They put in a soft temporary filling. They told me to come back in a week which I did - today, to what I thought would finish the job. So today they did more of what they did the first time, drill, drill and drill some more! Then they sealed the tooth and drilled some more. I'm not ever sure all of what they did, but I sat in that seat for 1 hour and a half being worked on and a half an hour of just waiting. Only to find out that i have to go back in two weeks because they put a temporary crown on and the permanent one will be made in the mean time. All I can say is, the dentist is the last place I want to go in two weeks. I love that I am finally getting some relief from the pain, but hate to go and endure the procedures. There you have it in a nutshell...stay tuned for the next edition in two weeks. The permanent crown! Has anyone else had issues like this? I love comments. Did I mention that I love comments?? oh yeah I did. :)

Bear Lake
We had a mini vacation this week. We went to Bear Lake. We had a nice relaxing time. We left on Wednesday afternoon and returned on Friday afternoon. The only bad part was that I actually had to drive -which I'd rather not do especially curvy windy canyon roads. At least it was only a few hours away. We stayed at Worldmark in a 3 bedroom condo (which is the only way to travel with kids, especially when you have 6!) We brought all our food and so we enjoyed cooking together and eating all together for 2 days. We took two vehicles since we can't all fit in one anymore! John drove in his truck and I drove the van. On Thursday John had to drive Chris back because he didn't get the day off of work. Unfortunatley Chris had to work fairly late, so John just came back to the condo shortly and Chris stayed at home and went to school the next day (Friday). We swam twice in the indoor pool. Lindzi had her first swimming pool experience. She liked it a lot, probably because the water was a nice temperature and she didn't get cold. It's spring here, but still pretty wintery there in Bear Lake. It snowed both days, but the snow didn't really stick or accumulate. The weather didn't really matter since we just went to relax and play games and swim, which we did. On the way home we stopped and ate chinese, it was yummy. Then John and Amanda went to meet and drop off Amanda to her mom where she is staying for the weekend. The girlies and I continued on home.

Family party
We had the family over to celebrate Brooklyn's birthday. It was an enjoyable time. John was here to enjoy it as well - he got back from his train trip in time... yea! Brenda and Nick came with baby Jonas, who is growing up fast. He's a month old now. Brenda took Brooklyn to get her ears pierced for her birthday present, on Saturday. We had a nice time visiting and eating cake and ice-cream.

Lindzi talks a little
Well this is my first try to post a video ..... it's a little long, almost 2 minutes. About half way through the video she sounds like she is about to talk. She has discovered that she has a voice. It's cute. P.S. I posted a new slide show right below this video of Brooklyn's birthday pictures.

Happy Birthday Brooklyn!
It was Brooklyn's 8th birthday yesterday. She had a fun puppy dog party. We had some friends and some cousins attend. It turned out really fun. The girls got to paint an little trinket box and then we played pin the nose on the dog. After that we had pizza. We sang happy birthday to Brooklyn and had cupcakes. Then we opened presents and played a few more games. Everyone had a good time. My sister in law, Valena was here and helped out with the transitions and the clean up, which was a big help. We are planning on having a little family party on Sunday.

We had an enjoyable family get together on Sunday after Conference. Mom, Dad and Steven came over as well as Brenda, Nick and baby Jonas. We enjoyed eating dinner and visiting with each other. After dinner Amanda and Brenda went for a walk while the rest of us had fun tending baby Jonas -he's a cutie.

Dr. visits
Well on April 1st I took Lindzi and Kassidy to the doctors for their check ups. Lindzi is now four months old and is just growing like crazy. She is now 16 lbs and 6 oz which is exactly 9 more pounds since birth. That puts her in the 95 percentile for weight. She did so good at the appointment and was so happy up until the end when they gave her the 5 shots. That is the saddest thing to watch - she was so upset. Kassidy had to go for her kindergarten physical. She will be five in May. She weighs 39 pounds - she is rapidly catching up to her sister, Brooklyn, who is about 42 lbs at almost 8 years old! Kassidy did well at the appointment too and even when they gave her the shots she didn't cry, but she tensed up and had a pained expression. After that we started for home when I realized that they had told me to go to the lab afterwards and I had forgotten. So we turned around and went back. So to add insult to injury to Kassidy who was moaning the shots, they had to poke her thumb to test her blood. They also wanted to have her pee in a cup... but she couldn't go. So they sent me home with a cup that I have to bring back.. oh how fun. On Friday Kassidy went outside to play and she went without shoes on and then decided to climb the little apple tree. Apparently on the way down, her foot slid right onto a part of the tree poking out and cut the bottom of her foot. She came in crying and the wound was kind of ugly and a little deeper than I'd like to see. After we bandaged it and let her rest for a little while, we decided we'd better take her in to the doctors to make sure there wasn't anything still stuck inside. So we went and they cleaned it out really well. She did good. They told us just to keep it bandaged and clean with some antibiotic ointment. She is on the mend. For the first few days afterward though, she didn't want to walk on it. So on Sunday between Amanda and I, we transported her to primary and then to class and then back to primary. It was kind of interesting, but it worked. Now she's healing and walking around just fine. Hopefully now we won't have to go to the doctors anytime soon.
