Michele and Randy
So beautifully blue!!!!!
We went to Cancun Mexico last week! It was a great time for the most part and we didn't get pulled over by the mexican police ...whew!! (I had read on the internet of that happening to tourists because they are easy marks) Some of the highlights of the trip include, Tulum ruins, climbing the Coba pyramid (and not falling.... that was scary!). Going to Chichen Itza and seeing those ruins. We went to xcaret and toured the park and then went to the evening show. We had a great time with our friends that came with us, Randy and Michele. We did a few night swims at the resort pool which was a lot of fun! We went to a pirate show and got held hostage by the pirates on an island....i may blog more about that one when i have more time. All in all the trip was great! The water was sooo blue and beautiful!! We shopped in Playa del Carmen, ate chinese at Puerto Morelos, and avoided the crazy drivers in Cancun! We drank Coca cola light if we couldn't find coke zero (their diet soda is called light) The flights over and back were great and pretty smooth and i didn't freak out once (and i have before on flights, i'm not a huge fan of flying... sometimes the turbulence freaks me out if it's more than intermittent). The flight was also nonstop so that was a major plus too! Another good thing about the flight home was the plane we were on had little tv screen on every seat backs and you could choose the movie you wanted or you could watch satellite tv or play games! I watched the movie "UP" and then watched dateline on tv.....It was cool! The lowlights were few, but the main low light of the trip was that on the day we left home, i had woke up with an infection brewing in my eye. I fought that infection the entire trip and bought two different eye drop medications from the pharmacies there. Luckily my dad helped me out to know what medicine to ask for. It was a pain, but i dealt with it and now it's finally feeling better. The other thing was that the beds there in mexico are very firm.... apparently most beds in mexico are a little on the hard side. So i didn't ever get a great night sleep because of that and my eye.... So i was truly thankful for my own bed once i got home! I didn't like all the humidity, because you just felt hot and sticky unless you were in the air conditioning and my hair didn't know what to do, so after a few days of that I went to a pony tail all the time!! It was good to get back to the girlies we missed them so much... but thanks to my mom and dad, they were well cared for. My mom had to deal with a couple of sick girls near the end of the week, so thank you so much mom and dad for all your help! Thanks to Amanda and Nick who were our dog/house sitters when mom and the girls weren't here. All in all a great trip... John got to accomplish one of his life's dream of walking on the ruins. He truly had a great time and loved almost every minute of it! It was nice to have some "couple time" without the responsibilities of work and kids. So now i'm doing laundry and trying to get back into the routine of things! Here are a few pics.... i will post more each day....
