Happy Halloween!

The girls in their costumes all ready to trick or treat! Desi is a hippie, Brooklyn is cleopatra, and Kassidy is a little witch and of course Lindzi is a pumpkin! Chris is a camo paintball guy. (he made use of stuff he already has and uses) On a side note, he just had his wisdom teeth pulled out yesterday! He's still not feeling 100 percent, but he was able to go to work today for a short shift, which is why he had to dress up. We took him to an oral surgeon and he isn't very swollen -not that you could see from that pic!

Lindzi is a mess maker!

she tipped over the garbage can and then she decided to empty the dishwasher and empty the towel drawer.

My little vampire!

It is so cute! Lindzi has cut her two side top teeth. They look like little fangs. Ironically I just finished reading the twilight novels. (for those who don't know.... there are vampires in the book) and it's October and Halloween! Lindzi is a vampire right in time for Halloween! She's also starting to cut her two front top teeth just barely .. so she won't be vampire child much longer.
Happy Halloween!

Happy Birthday to me!

Another year older and hopefully wiser! We just had a little family party. Brenda, Nick and Jonas came as well as Mom, Dad and Steven. We had spaghetti for dinner. John was even here for it. He was the photographer in the group photo.. so you can't tell he was there. Mom made the cake so I didn't have to, yay!!

SHAMU!
Posing with Shiver at Sea World

Well we had a fun and eventful trip this last week. We left on a Sunday and came back on a Sunday (today). We drove down to San Diego, CA ... it took us around 13 hours with stops etc. We spent the night and the next morning we boarded the Carnival cruise ship, "Elation". It was a five day cruise that went to Cabo San Lucas Mexico and Ensenada, Mexico. The girls really enjoyed this cruise. It was very smooth sailing.. which I love... you hardly felt it. This is my 4th cruise and it was the smoothest by far. We had fun exploring the ship, playing mini golf, swimming, shopping, watching the show and eating of course!! The first dancing show wasn't the greatest though... it didn't hold the girls or my attention and some of the costumes were a little too revealing... so we only watched part of it. The other dancing show was a lot better thank goodness. This is our first time sailing with Carnival, so there were a few differences. John liked the food selection and quality better on the last 3 cruises we've taken (Royal Carribbean and Princess) I agree that the Alaskan cruise had better food... but it was also so cold on the Alaskan cruise that you didn't want to really go outside. The girls loved to go and get soft serve ice cream for dessert which they did multiples times a day! It was nice to dress up some evenings and go to dinner. The waiters were very fun... they learned the girls' names by the first night. We took some family photos that turned out very nice. Lindzi was a people magnet big time! So many people commented on how cute she was and would call her little princess. On formal night, we dressed up and everyone commented on how pretty/handsome everyone looked. On the last night the girls dressed in mexican dresses and sombreros that John had bought, in Ensenada. Everyone enjoyed that sight too!! We got off the ship on Saturday and went to Sea World to see Shamu and friends. It was fun, unfortunately, we had to rush through with the long drive ahead. We still were able to catch most the shows... we saw the shamu show, the dolphin show and the sea otter show and elmo's 4D movie. It was fun. The drive home was long and tiring... since we drove through the night. We were glad to see home at 5:30 am.

Dental abuse!

Well not really .... i don't think so anyhow. Anyway, i went in on Sept 23rd to have 4 cavities filled. I know a lot huh? I don't know what went wrong this year for my teeth, but they have not been my friends this year. My first root canal was in the beginning of this year you may recall from a previous post. So I had to have four cavities filled on the same side of my mouth -2 on top and 2 on bottom. Apparently one on the bottom was because of a faulty filling. (it was a different dentist that did that one) Well it had been slowly rotting under my filling... nice huh? The dentist thought it might need a root canal possibly. (the thought of another root canal is not a pleasant one) Luckily at least for now ... it's ok, but he thinks in the future it will need one...NOOOOOOOO!! So that cavity took a lot of drilling and such. My appt lasted around an hour and 15 or 20min. So I was glad to get that done with. Well the next day i noticed some bruising on my cheek. Over the next few days it seemed to look worse and worse. So here i am going to church, then a stake activity, then to my card group and a lia sophia jewelry party, not to mention just the normal grocery stores and such... all with this horrible bruise on my face. I felt like a domestic violence victim. I kept explaining what had happened to people and they would ask what kind of dental work did I have done, and i'd say i just had cavities filled. They would be expecting me to say that i'd had wisdom teeth removed or something more drastic. Needless to say i'm tired of it on there... it's taking it's sweet time in healing. It's still here as of Oct 9th- although it is looking better all the time. I hope it doesn't show up in our vacation pics.... which we are on right now... sort of ... I scheduled this post to show up while we're gone. Today is the 9th that I am writing it. So we're leaving in a few days and of course right before we leave Brooklyn gets a cold... then Lindzi gets it and is running a fever too. I took her to the drs, but no ear infection so we'll just hope she feels better in time. Desi is coming down with it too and maybe me also. Well the only bright spot is that we'll be feeling mostly better i hope by the time we leave. Well that's it for now... next post ....vacation!!!! Lets hope it's a great one!

Silly Lindzi

here she finds the tiny tiny hole.
face squish
and again
this one is cute!

Lindzi was in her crib while I was braiding Desi's hair. She decided to find the one an only tiny hole in the mesh netting!! Then she proceeded to smoosh her face against the mesh .. it was hilarious! I told Desi to grab my camera and we got a few good shots of her doing it!

We live in a "gated community"

we have one between the kitchen and sitting room
one between the living room and entryway/stairs
and another between the kitchen and back door entry.
Lindzi loves to open things.
Lindzi is Trouble with a capital T!! Now that she is mobile she love to get into things. We have to scale 3 gates and keep the basement door shut to keep Lindzi out of trouble...only she still gets in to trouble. She has a few bruises on her forehead from bonking into table legs, corners of walls etc. She also has a small scratch under her nose from the brick fireplace.(you can see it in the pics, if you look closely.) Even watching her like a hawk, she manages to find little bits and pieces of whatever and tries to put them in her mouth. If the gate by the backdoor is not up she will go dump Buster's food and water over and try to eat some too. Sometimes she succeeds and I have to fish them out! Just while I've been posting she's tried to eat a piece of paper, she opened my file cabinet, bonked her head on the cabinet and pulled the garbage over all while i'm right here! Well that's how life is here in this gated community or maybe it's more like a jail. :) I'd better get going before she gets into more trouble.

Dad is Back and Birthday celebrations!

My Dad got back from Scotland today. The month he was gone, went by pretty fast. It was nice being able to talk to him almost every day through Skype. We went to Mom and Dad's for dinner and to celebrate Dad's homecoming and also his and Steven's birthdays. It was very nice. Desi baked the cake for Dad and I decorated it. It is the Kilsyth coat of arms. The words "spe expecto" are latin and mean "I expect with hope". I decorated it from fondant... my very first attempt. I made the fondant from scratch and it turned out pretty well. Mom made Steven's cake which was also very cute. Lindzi also turned 10 months old today!
